Study in UK

Important UCAS Deadlines.
All UCAS deadlines for courses in the UK  for students wishing to study in the UK from September of the current year is 15 January at 18:00 (UK time) for the majority of courses. This applies to Bachelors and Master Degree programmes. For PhD, there are specific institutional requirements. Check the website of the University you hope to apply to. 

Norway

The national application deadlines for most schools in Norway is 1st December. Application portals are opened in October.

Other institutions in Europe

Different deadlines apply to different institutions. Check institutional pages.

Canada

Check individual university's website. The application portals for most schools are opened all year round for Fall, Winter, and Summer terms (September, January and May).

America

Most schools open admission in August with varying deadlines between November and February.


Preparations

Gather your documents. Check for specific requirements. Start writing your statement of purpose/letter of intent. Register for SAT, GRE, IELTS, TOEFL. If you have to and contact potential supervisors, do that as you prepare to put in your application. Get in touch with former lecturers and employers if you will need reference letters. These preparations will save you lots of time when you are ready to work on the application itself.

Mixing Rice: the dilemma of a multilingual signer

  Yesterday, I made my favourite jollof rice with chicken. The approval was great as always. Scholastica (the academic name for my daughter) ate 3 times… She doesn't eat other foods like that (maybe when she is in a good eating mood, she can eat that much of Banku with a good okro stew).  Anyway, back to my tantalising jollof story. The academic hubby ate to his full. As for me, I am on diet so I tried to manage my consumption…. Oh yes, I am checking my weight gain. You should believe me 😅.  The tantalising jollof story entered my dreams. I was in a program with my Deaf friends from Ghana. The language of communication was Ghanaian Sign Language (GSL).
